European Monetary Union Compliance

Symbol Technologies has formed a company-wide Euro Steering Team whose mission is to determine the commercial and financial implications of the move to a common European Monetary Union currency, the "euro".

Effective with transactions initiated after January 1, 1999, Symbol Technologies is able to invoice and make payments in the new currency of the European Monetary Union, if required by customers and suppliers.

"Although Symbol is a $US-based reporting company, we have worldwide subsidiaries with whom our customers and suppliers conduct commerce, in numerous currencies. We will make accommodations to our trading partners who wish to transact in euros. However, we will do this only where it does not create additional currency risk or economic disadvantage," said Tomo Razmilovic, Symbol president and chief operating officer.
